TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) advises owners and trainers of their obligations under theTerms and Conditions of Entry to the TAB Million Dollar Chase (Event).  These Terms and Conditions of Entry apply to all owners and/or trainers (Nominator(s)) who nominate a greyhound/s to compete at any race meetings which form part of the Event and/or any Associated Event (as defined below), including (but not limited to):
  • Qualifying Series (Regional and City) – scheduled to be held between 1st September 2020 & 3rd October 2020. 
  • Semi-Finals – scheduled to be held on 9th October 2020; and
  • Grand Final – scheduled to be held on 16th October 2020.
Nomination of any greyhound for any race meeting, which forms part of the Event, and/or any Associated Event is deemed as acceptance of these Terms and Conditions of Entry.

Conduct of Race Meetings

1. The conduct of race meetings which form part of the Event or Associated Events is subject  to:

                    (a)  the Greyhound Welfare Integrity Commission (GWIC) Greyhound Racing Rules; and

                    (b)  the GRNSW Grading Policy.

2. In the event that there is conflict between the Terms and Conditions of Entry and the grading policy, the Terms and Conditions of Entry will prevail.

Event eligibility and entry fees

3.  GRNSW has sole discretion to accept or reject the nomination of any greyhound for entry to compete in the Event or Associated Event for any reason whatsoever.

4. Minimum requirements for eligibility to enter the Event:

(a)  A greyhound will not be eligible to compete in any race meeting until its Nominator(s) has paid an entry fee as per Race Entry Fee Schedule.

Race Entry Fee Schedule

(i)                 $60 (gst inclusive) per greyhound per Regional Heat
(ii)                $60 (gst inclusive) per greyhound per City Qualifier
(iii)               $110 (gst inclusive) per greyhound per Semi-Final (Invited Greyhounds Exempt)
(iv)               $250 (gst inclusive) per greyhound  - to contest the Consolation Final                                                              (No Exemptions)
(v)                $550 (gst inclusive) per greyhound  - to contest the Grand Final                                                                        (No Exemptions)

100% from each entry fee will be donated by GRNSW to the NSW Greyhounds As Pets (GAP) program.

(b)     There is no limit to the number of Qualifying races (Regional) in which a greyhound can compete, unless they have already qualified for the Semi Finals.
 

The Event details

5.            The Event Regional Qualifying Heats

(a) Nominations will only be accepted if a greyhound is directly nominated into the series.

(b) GRNSW reserve the right to grade the number of races as determined by the nominations.

(c) Where possible preference will be given to drawing full fields.

(d) Maidens Ineligible


6.    There will be 15 Qualifying Venues held at 15 Regional NSW tracks, as follows:

7.             The Event Regional Qualifying Finals

(a) Greyhounds eligible to compete in the Event Regional Qualifying finals will be as follows:

                    (i)             if 2 heats conducted: first, second, third & fourth place getters;

                    (ii)           if 3 heats conducted: first and second place getters + 2 fastest third place getters;

                    (iii)          if 4 heats conducted: first and second place getters;

                    (iv)          if 5 heats conducted: 5 x first place getters + 3 fastest second placed runners;

                    (v)            if 6 heats conducted: 6 x first place getters + 2 fastest second placed runners;

                    (vi)          if 7 heats conducted: 7 x first place getters + 1 fastest second placed runner; and

                    (vii)         if 8 heats conducted: 8 x first placed runners.

                    (viii)        If more than 8 heats conducted: 8 fastest heat winners will qualify.

(b) Reserves for the Regional qualifying finals will be drawn from the greyhounds which finish in the order Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, (on times).

(c) The greyhounds placing First, Second and Third in each Qualifying Final (Regional) will qualify for the Semi-Finals (45 greyhounds total).  If the greyhound placing First, Second or Third becomes ineligible for the Semi-Finals, then the greyhound which places Fourth will qualify for the Semi-Finals (and so on as necessary).

(d) Greyhounds that have qualified for the Million Dollar Chase Semi-Finals through a regional qualifying final are ineligible to compete in any other regional qualifying heat or City Qualifying Finals.
 

8.             The Event City Qualifying Finals

 
(a) There will be 8 Qualifying Finals (City) held at Wentworth Park on:  3rd October 2020

(b) The greyhounds placing First in each Qualifying Final (City) will qualify for a place in the Semi-Finals (8 greyhounds total).  If the greyhound placing First, becomes ineligible for the Semi-Finals, then the greyhound which places Second will qualify for the Semi-Finals (and so on as necessary).

(c) The order of entry for the Qualifying Finals (Regional and City) will be pursuant to GRNSW Grading Policy guidelines.

(d) Reserves for the Semi-Finals will be drawn from the eight (8) fastest seconds then the next fastest thirds and fourths from the Qualifying Finals (City), from those that are eligible to be drawn.

(e) Greyhounds that have qualified the Million Dollar Chase Semi-Finals through the regional qualifying finals are ineligible to compete in the city qualifying finals.

9.            The Event Invitation

(a) There will be seven (7) Semi Final Invitations offered to the State Sprint Champions for (NSW,VIC, QLD, SA, WA,TAS & NZ) to compete in The Event Semi Finals

(b) The invitations are NOT transferable if the State Sprint Champion Winner does not accept the slot.

(c) If Invitations are not accepted, runners will be drawn from place getters from The Event City Qualifying Finals based on placing and time.

10.          The Event Semi-Finals

(a) There will be eight (8) Semi-Finals held at Wentworth Park on 9th October 2020

(b) The greyhound placing First in each Semi-Final will qualify for a place in the Grand Final.If the greyhound placing First in a Semi-Final becomes ineligible for the Grand Final, before the box draw, then the greyhound which places Second will qualify for the Grand Final (and so on as necessary).

(c) Two Reserves for the Grand Final will be drawn from the two fastest greyhounds which placed second in a Semi-Final.

(d) The greyhound placing second in each Semi-Final will qualify for a place in the Grand Final Consolation. If the greyhound placing Second in a Semi-Final becomes ineligible for the Grand Final consolation, before the box draw, then the greyhound which places Third will qualify for the Grand Final Consolation (and so on as necessary).

(e) Two Reserves for the Grand Final Consolation will be drawn from the two fastest greyhounds which placed Third in a Semi-Final.

11.        The Event Grand Final

(a) There will be one (1) Grand Final held at Wentworth Park on 16th October 2020

(b) There will be one (1) Grand Final Consolation held at Wentworth Park on 16th October 2020.

12. Cancellation

(a) If any scheduled race meeting forming part of the Event is cancelled or abandoned, GRNSW reserves the right to re-schedule that race meeting to take place on another date in its sole discretion.
              

The Grand Final Event Prizemoney


13. The total prizemoney for the Grand Final Event will be $1,200,000, to be distributed to the owners of greyhounds placing in the Grand Final as follows:

(i)            First: $1,000,000

(ii)          Second: $100,000

(iii)         Third: $45,000

(iv)         Fourth: $15,000

(v)          Fifth to eighth: $10,000 each


14.               No other prizemoney will be distributed in relation to the Grand final Event. 

The Grand Final Consolation Event Prizemoney


15.               The total prizemoney for the Grand Final Consolation Event will be $46,500 to be                                       distributed to the owners of greyhounds placing in the Grand Final Consolation Event as                         follows:

(i)           First: $25,000
(ii)          Second: $7,000
(iii)         Third: $4,000
(iv)         Fourth: $2,500
(v)          Fifth to eighth: $2,000 each

 
Race meetings related to the Event


16. In addition to the Event, GRNSW will also be conducting the following race meeting (Associated Events):

17.          Group 3 Sydney Cup – 720m

(a) Greyhounds eligible to compete in the Sydney Cup event will be the best 24 greyhounds nominated + Reserves.

(b) The Sydney Cup event will comprise three (3) heats and one (1) Final.  Greyhounds which place First and Second in each of the heats will qualify automatically for the Final. The two fastest greyhounds of those which place Third will qualify automatically for the Final. The next fastest third and the fastest fourth from the heats will be the Reserves for the Final. If the greyhound placing First and/or Second and/or Third becomes ineligible for the Final, before the box draw,  then the greyhound which places as the Fourth will qualify for the Final (and so on as necessary).

(c) The Sydney Cup heats are scheduled to take place at Wentworth Park on Friday 9th October 2020.

(d) The Sydney Cup final is scheduled to take place at Wentworth Park on 16th October 2020.


(g) The total prizemoney for the Sydney Cup will be $132,500, to be distributed to the owners of greyhounds placing in that event as follows.

(i)                First: $100,000
(ii)               Second: $20,000
(iii)              Third: $10,000
(iv)              Unplaced: $500 each


18.         Masters Meteor – 520m

(a) Greyhounds eligible to compete in the Masters Meteor event will be the best 32 Masters greyhounds nominated + Reserves.

(b) The Masters Meteor event will comprise four (4) heats and one (1) Final.  Greyhounds which place First and Second in each of the heats will qualify automatically for the Final. The two fastest greyhounds of those which place Third in each heat will be the Reserves for the Final. If the greyhound placing First and/or Second becomes ineligible for the Final, before the box draw,  then the greyhound which places third will qualify for the Final (and so on as necessary).

(c) The Masters Meteor heats are scheduled to take place at Wentworth Park on Saturday 10th October 2020.

(d) The Masters Meteor final is scheduled to take place at Wentworth Park on Friday16th October 2020.


(e) The total prizemoney for the Masters Meteor will be $132,500, to be distributed to the owners  of greyhounds placing in that event as follows.

(i)                 First: $100,000
(ii)                Second: $20,000
(iii)              Third: $10,000
(iv)               Unplaced: $500 each

19.        Young Star – 520m 

(a) Greyhounds eligible to compete in the Young Star event will be the best 32 greyhounds nominated + Reserves. Greyhounds must have been whelped on or after 1st July 2018.

(b) Greyhounds must have been bred in NSW.

(c) Maiden greyhounds are ineligible to compete.

(d) The Young Star event will comprise four (4) heats and one (1) Final.  Greyhounds which place First and Second in each of the heats will qualify automatically for the Final. The two fastest greyhounds of those which place Third in each heat will be the Reserves for the Final. If the greyhound placing First and/or Second becomes ineligible for the Final, before the box draw,  then the greyhound which places Third will qualify for the Final (and so on as necessary).

(e) The Young Star heats are scheduled to take place Wentworth Park on Saturday 10th October 2020.

(f) The Young Star final is scheduled to take place at Wentworth Park on 16th October 2020.

(i)                First: $25,000
(ii)               Second: $7,000
(iii)              Third: $4,000
(iv)              Unplaced: $500 each

20.        MDC Maiden  – 520m

(a) Greyhounds eligible to compete in the MDC Maiden event will be the best 64 NSW Bred Maiden greyhounds + reserves nominated

(b) The MDC Maiden event will comprise up to eight (8) heats and one (1) Final.  The number of heats drawn will be dependent on nominations. If a greyhound that qualifies for the Final becomes ineligible before the box draw, then the greyhound which places as the next in that heat will qualify for the Final (and so on as necessary).

(c) The MDC Maiden heats are scheduled to take place at Wentworth Park on Wednesday 7th October 2020.

(d) The MDC Maiden final is scheduled to take place at Wentworth Park on Friday 16th October 2020.

(i)                 First: $15,000
(ii)                Second: $3,000
(iii)               Third: $1,500
(iv)               Unplaced: $500 each

General

21. GRNSW is not liable for any losses (including loss of opportunity), costs or damage (including direct, indirect or consequential damage) or personal injury suffered or incurred in relation to the Event and/or any Associated Event (including in relation to participation in the Event and/or any Associated Event), which cannot be excluded by law.


22. GWIC reserves the right to, at any time, disqualify any greyhound in respect of which GRNSW has reason to believe that the greyhound or its owner or trainer has not complied with these Terms and Conditions of Entry and/or the GWIC Greyhound Racing Rules.


23. GRNSW reserves the right to modify, suspend or terminate the Event and/or any Associated Event without notice.
