GMA and GRNSW continue in 2020 & beyond

Gold Muzzle Auctions and Greyhound Racing NSW are delighted and proud to announce that they have reached a partnership agreement to stage the Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction for a further two years.

The inaugural Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction was staged in June 2019 at Richmond Race Track and attracted a large crowd where more than 100 top quality greyhound pups were sold at an average price in excess of $5,900, with the sales topper reaching a massive $32,000.

“We are delighted to again partner with Gold Muzzle Auctions to further enhance the Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction concept and also the associated Golden Muzzle Race series,” GRNSW Chief Executive Tony Mestrov said.

“The success of the 2019 Puppy Auction was a vote of confidence for our industry moving forward with a number of new owners and syndicates entering the sport by purchasing a pup.”

Mark Duclos, Managing Director of Gold Muzzle Auctions, said Breeders and Industry participants threw their support behind the new venture last year and he is confident that the 2020 renewal will be even bigger.

“With controlled and regulated measures in place, breeding numbers for the past 12 months have been on the rise and the Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction provides Breeders with a viable alternative to offer their pups for sale,” Duclos said.

“The attraction for prospective owners and syndicates is that not only do they have the opportunity to purchase some the best-bred pups in Australia, but those pups are also eligible to race in the corresponding 2021 Golden Muzzle Race series which offers more than $100,000 in total prizemoney including a $40,000 to the winner series to be staged at Wentworth Park,”

Chief Operating Officer of GRNSW, Wayne Billett, was another to sing the praises of the Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction saying that the Auction was part of GRNSW’s strategy to enhance and stimulate new ownership.

“With sustained increase in wagering and the popularity of the greyhound as a pet, we are constantly fielding requests from people wishing to become involved as an owner and the Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction provides the perfect opportunity to for these participants to purchase a greyhound pup at a realistic price.”

The 2020 Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction will be staged at Richmond Race Track on Sunday, June 21 and will be restricted to a maximum of 150 pups, with only those pups sold through the Auction eligible to compete in the 2021 Golden Muzzle Race Series.

While the pups will be the focal point on Auction day, there will also be a number of other activities taking place with champion G1 winning trainer, Anthony Azzopardi, the special guest at a Trainer’s Forum; representatives from GRNSW and the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission (GWIC) will available to field enquiries from participants and new owners, and Greyhound As Pets (GAP) will be there on the day to discuss the benefits of adopting a Greyhound.
